On May 18, Turkmenistan celebrates one of its most important national holidays – Constitution Day and State Flag Day of Turkmenistan. This holiday symbolizes the inseparable connection between the foundations of the state system, sovereignty, and the national unity of the Turkmen people.

The Constitution of Turkmenistan, adopted on May 18, 1992, became a solid legal foundation for an independent and permanently neutral state, enshrining the principles of democracy, peace, justice, and respect for human rights. The State Flag of Turkmenistan, approved in 1992, is a sacred symbol of independence, national dignity, and the continuity of the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.

The holiday is widely and solemnly celebrated throughout the country. On this day, flower-laying ceremonies, cultural and public events, festive concerts, exhibitions, and scientific and practical conferences are held in the capital and all regions of Turkmenistan. Traditionally, special attention is given to ceremonies at the Monument of the Constitution and the Main Flagpole of Turkmenistan, which symbolize the statehood and prosperity of the country.
