THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR OF TURKMENISTAN IS THE LEADING BRANCH OF THE NATIONAL ECONOMY

The energy strategy implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is aimed at the comprehensive development of the oil and gas complex, which is one of the leading branches of the national economy. The success of the transformations in this area is evidenced by indicators for the results of 2024.
So steady growth was noted in the industrial sector, including natural gas production amounted to 77 billion 623.1 million cubic meters, oil - 8 million 279.7 thousand tons. Compared to last year, the production of oil bitumen increased by 10.2 percent, gasoline - by 4.8 percent, fuel oil - by 8.2 percent, diesel fuel - by 0.6 percent.
As the President of Turkmenistan noted, greeting the participants of the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the results of 2024, in consequence of the energy policy implemented by the state, the oil and gas sector is consistently developing. The Head of State noted the need for further implementation of advanced technologies to increase the production capacity of the oil and gas complex, boost the industrial development of the “Galkynyş” gas field, and accelerate the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline, especially its key section, Serkhetabat–Herat, called “Arkadagyň ak ýoly”.
The importance of developing rich and promising oil deposits, increasing the production capacity of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries and the Seydi Oil Refinery, accelerating the pace of exploration and search for promising hydrocarbon resources, geological surveys to find deposits of minerals, rare minerals, groundwater, and professional development of industry specialists was also noted.
