Turkmenistan has sent humanitarian aid to residents of Afghanistan who suffered from a devastating earthquake.

By order of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, textiles, food, clothing and other essential goods were delivered to the Afghan people, primarily children and residents affected by the natural disaster.

The humanitarian aid was sent on behalf of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care at the expense of the organization.

A cargo plane of the State Service "Turkmenhowayollary" carried out a special flight on the Ashgabat-Kabul route, delivering various products and goods for the affected residents of the neighboring country.

The ceremony of handing over humanitarian aid was held in a warm atmosphere. Participants of the event in Afghanistan expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for the constant support of the Afghan people.

At the end of August, a powerful earthquake hit Afghanistan, affecting the provinces of Kunar, Laghman and Nangarhar. After that, five more tremors were recorded in the country. As a result of the natural disaster, more than 2,2 thousand people died, and about 3,7 thousand were injured.
