Magtymguly's poetry, in keeping with the year's motto, will be featured in a poetry marathon
As part of the ongoing poetry marathon in Kyiv, a work by the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly was performed, translated into Ukrainian by Pavlo Movchan. The poem was read by a diplomat from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine at the poet's monument in central Kyiv.
The work explores themes of courage, fortitude, and life choices. Through the images of a horse and a horseman, the poet contrasts decisiveness and bravery with fear and indecision, emphasizing the value of striving forward regardless of obstacles.
The choice of the work is particularly symbolic given that 2026 in Turkmenistan is celebrated under the motto " Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan –homeland of purposeful heavenly horses". Akhalteke horses have historically embodied nobility, speed, endurance, and loyalty in Turkmenistan, forming an integral part of its cultural heritage and a subject of special veneration.
