Turkmenistan to Hold Halk Maslahaty Session September 23

National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty on Wednesday, where a decision was adopted to convene the next session of the Halk Maslahaty on September 23, 2026, in Ashgabat at the Maslahat Palace.

The Presidium reviewed preparations for the Halk Maslahaty session, organizational arrangements for the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and other major events scheduled this year, as well as proposals to nominate citizens with outstanding achievements in various fields and broad public recognition for state awards and honorary titles. Other issues were also considered.

The Presidium approved a resolution establishing an organizing committee to oversee preparations for the Halk Maslahaty session and confirmed its membership. Under the resolution, the Office of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, together with the Mejlis, was instructed to provide organizational and methodological guidance to the regional, district and city Halk Maslahaty bodies in preparing for the session and to coordinate that work.

During the meeting, deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, the chairman of the relevant committee of the Mejlis, the chairman of the Ahal Regional Halk Maslahaty and the secretary of the State Security Council and defense minister reported on preparations for the upcoming Halk Maslahaty session and celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. Participants also noted the significance of establishing the jubilee medal "Türkmenistanyň Garaşsyzlygynyň 35 ýyllygyna bagyşlanyp geçirilen dabaraly harby ýörişe gatnaşyja" in recognizing and encouraging military personnel taking part in the anniversary celebrations.
