The spring horse racing season has begun in Ashgabat

The spring horse racing season has kicked off in Ashgabat. The opening ceremony took place at the capital's equestrian complex and featured festive performances and cultural events, according to the Turkmenistan newspaper.

On the first day of competition, spectators watched ten races over distances ranging from 1,200 to 1,800 meters. The Ahalteke Equestrian Complex of the President of Turkmenistan enjoyed the greatest success: its horses won five of the ten races.

Bellidag opened the scoring, crossing the finish line first in the 1200-meter race with a time of 1 minute 21 seconds. He was followed by the stallion Gulzar , who won for the presidential complex. The bay horse Shertli won the seventh race at 1600 meters, the black horse Kyapeler posted the best result in the eighth race – 1 minute 51.1 seconds, and the chestnut horse Yangyn concluded the day's program with a victory in the final, tenth race.

Among other owners, the state-owned Turkmenhimiya concern , whose horse Messan won the third race, and private farms distinguished themselves. Ziyada, from the A. Charyev stable , won the fourth race, while M. Seyidov's bay Gayratly clocked 1 minute 21.2 seconds in the fifth 1200-meter race. M. Meretniyazov's chestnut Atylar won the sixth 1400-meter race with a time of 1 minute 35.9 seconds. Black Severdag, from the A. Myratberdiyev farm, finished first in the ninth 1800-meter race.

All winning horses received awards.
