The delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on October 17–18 in Baghdad.

The participants discussed current issues related to expanding political, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation among OIC member states.

An important outcome of the session was the adoption, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, of the resolution entitled “The Role of the Policy of Neutrality in Maintaining and Strengthening International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development within the OIC Region and Worldwide.”

The delegation of Turkmenistan delivered a statement outlining the country's priority areas of cooperation with the OIC. Particular emphasis was placed on the significance of Turkmenistan's initiative to declare 2028 the Year of International Law, which received the support of the United Nations General Assembly.

Special attention was also given to expanding cooperation in education, science and culture. In particular, it was noted that in 2026 Turkmenistan obtained observer status in the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), opening up new opportunities for developing cooperation in these areas.

The Turkmen side also expressed its interest in further strengthening partnerships with OIC member states in the fields of trade and economy, energy, transport and communications, and humanitarian cooperation.
