Asian Games 2026 Results: Turkmenistan Team Concludes Campaign with Two Silver Medals
The 20th Asian Games have concluded in Nagoya, Japan, with the Turkmenistan national team winning two silver medals and finishing 31st in the overall medal standings.
Karate athlete Davut Nazmyradov won the silver medal in the under-75 kg weight category after losing 3–4 in the final to Iran’s Morteza Nemati. Weightlifter Shahzadbek Matyakubov also claimed silver in the under-110 kg category with a total of 410 kg (188 kg in the snatch and 222 kg in the clean and jerk), finishing behind only Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Akbar Djuraev of Uzbekistan, who set a Games record of 423 kg.
The 20th Asian Games were held in Nagoya from September 19 to October 4. The Games brought together representatives of 45 Asian countries and territories, as well as a refugee team, with a total of around 10,800 athletes competing for medals in 43 sports. Turkmenistan’s delegation comprised 57 people, including 34 athletes competing in eight sports: boxing, wrestling, karate, kurash, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and wushu.
