This year, Turkmenistan and Ukraine celebrate the 33rd Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. On October 10, 1992, our countries reaffirmed their commitment to a policy of good-neighborliness and promising bilateral cooperation in all areas by signing the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, and the Protocol on Cooperation and Coordination between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. Embassies in Kyiv and Ashgabat began operating in 1995.

Ukraine was one of the first to support the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan and co-authored the corresponding Resolution adopted on December 12, 1995, by the UN General Assembly.

A stable and reliable partnership continues within the framework of international organizations, political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and scientific and educational areas.

The countries aim to maintain the dynamic level of trade cooperation and build the potential and capabilities of their bilateral partnership.

Ukrainian companies are successfully operating in our country and continue to be involved in the construction of large-scale infrastructure projects of national importance and complex utility lines in Turkmenistan. Thus, in anticipation of the celebration of the Day of Workers of the Construction and Industrial Complex of Turkmenistan in November of this year, the opening of a road bridge across the Garabogaz Köl Bay along the Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway is planned, the design and construction of which was entrusted to the Ukrainian company «Altkom».
