JOINT MEETING OF THE TURKMEN-JAPANESE AND JAPAN-TURKMEN COMMITTEES ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION WAS HELD IN ASHGABAT
On December 16, 2024, the 15th Joint Meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japan-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat at the “Yildiz” Hotel.
The Japanese delegation headed by Mr. Hiroyuki Tsubai, Member of the Board of Directors of the Japanese company “Itochu Corporation”, Executive Vice President, President of the company “Machinery and Equipment”, Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation, arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit to participate in the work of the forum.
The meeting was preceded by a meeting in a narrow format. The Japanese delegation included heads of major Japanese companies, as well as the Japanese Trade Association ROTOBO.
The agenda of the joint meeting covered a wide range of topics. Among the key areas of cooperation are transportation, construction, industry, electric power, ecology, “green” energy, and others.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov highlighted the representative composition of the delegations from both sides.
Positive assessment was given to the work of the committees, which are effective platforms for exchanging ideas, identifying new areas of cooperation and developing specific action plans for the near future in order to form a strong basis for the development of further constructive dialog.
It was emphasized that regular meetings of the leaders of the two countries give powerful political impulse to advance large-scale and long-term initiatives aimed at strengthening friendship and partnership between Turkmenistan and Japan.
The successful development of joint cooperation in such areas as trade, oil and gas, chemical industry, communications, finance, as well as healthcare, science and education was highlighted in the speeches.
During the meeting, a number of documents was signed between the government agencies and leading Japanese companies in such fields as the chemical industry, gas industry and others.
A Final Protocol was signed at the end of the joint meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation.
