MEETING WITH THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION

On February 27, 2025, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Assistant Director-General, Regional Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Beate Andrees.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of interaction and joint activities for the current year, which has been declared the International Year of Peace and Trust in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution. It was especially noted that maintaining peace, stability and mutual understanding between people directly affects all areas of life.

During the meeting, the interlocutors reviewed the results of joint work in 2024 in accordance with the «Roadmap for joint activities for 2024-2025».

In addition, the main areas of interaction between the Government of Turkmenistan and the ILO for 2025 were identified. The Turkmen side proposed to establish work on conducting relevant trainings and seminars with the participation of ILO experts.

Particular attention was paid to issues of strengthening the legal framework of Turkmenistan by joining ILO conventions and preparing for upcoming events, in particular the International Labour Conference.

On the same day, the ILO delegation led by Beate Andrees met with the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D. Gulmanova.

The social reforms taking place in Turkmenistan, particularly through the improvement of the country’s labor legislation were considered at the meeting. In addition, issues related to Turkmenistan’s accession to the conventions of the International Labor Organization were discussed.
