Educators from Turkmenistan are invited to participate in the DARYA SCAFFOLD Competition, which will allow participants to demonstrate innovative abilities, enhance and validate professional competencies, and gain recognition in Central Asia and Europe.

The competition is open to independent educators and methodologists, teams of teachers (2–4 people) working in the same organization, as well as all interested educators involved in secondary, vocational or adult education in Central Asian countries.

The competition is held with the participation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan within the framework of the DARYA project (Dialogue and Action for Resourceful Youth in Central Asia)—a regional project of the European Union. The project is scheduled for 2022–2027 and aims to support education, youth employment, and the development of inclusive skills in Central Asian partner countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The competition is designed to encourage educators to use the SCAFFOLD tool to create innovative lessons and programs for formal, informal and spontaneous learning.

SCAFFOLD is a set of 102 cards that help educators plan the learning process, design lessons, and evaluate learning outcomes. This tool was developed by the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. SCAFFOLD can be applied in any subject area and at any level of education.

To participate in the competition, candidates should familiarize themselves with the SCAFFOLD tool, develop a lesson plan using it, test the lesson with students and gather their feedback, submit an application with the lesson plan and student feedback.

Applications are accepted until March 15 of this year. Applications can be submitted via the provided link. The results will be announced in April 2025.

Participant submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Clear use of SCAFFOLD in the lesson plan; Real-life relevance; Impact on student engagement; Reflection and advice for educators; Readiness for publication.

To prepare for participation, educators can use the following resources: the official SCAFFOLD website with recommendations, online webinars and consultations with experts, SCAFFOLD meetings held locally, news updates on DARYA SCAFFOLD social media channels.

Winners will be determined in three categories: Educational institutions (school and secondary education); Vocational education and training (VET); Adult education.

The best works by participants will be included in a collection of advanced educational practices and distributed among the teaching community in the region.

Participation in the competition provides educators with opportunities to gain international recognition, receive a certificate from the European Training Foundation (ETF), showcase their winning portfolio on the DARYA SCAFFOLD website, publish their lesson plan in ETF DARYA publications, participate in an international ETF press release.
