TURKMENISTAN’S INTERACTION WITH UNODC DISCUSSED

On 13 September 2024, a meeting was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov and the newly appointed Regional Representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan Oliver Stolpe.

The parties noted with satisfaction Turkmenistan’s effective cooperation with UNODC for many years. They discussed the results of joint work within the framework of the implementation of cycles of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia for 2022-2025, as well as the work within the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre and projects of the European Union.

During the meeting the current activities and further partnership on countering modern threats of global level, in particular organized crime, drug trafficking, corruption and terrorism were considered.

The parties exchanged views on the arrangement of joint activities in the current year.
