Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov announced the country's readiness to intensify cooperation with the European Union in various areas. He reported this at a press conference within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

According to the head of the MFA, transport connectivity is a key aspect of Turkmenistan's interaction with the international community. Particular attention is paid to the development of transport links with Europe based on the EU strategy "Global Corridors".

Meredov reminded that the Turkmen delegation participated in a special EU investment forum on this strategy in January 2024. A summit is planned for October of this year, for which Turkmenistan is actively preparing.

The Minister noted that in March a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian countries with the EU High Representative for International Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas was held, where issues of transport links between the regions were discussed.

Turkmenistan is ready to expand cooperation in the transport and transit sectors, the energy sector with an emphasis on green energy, as well as in the trade and economic sphere. In addition, the country is interested in developing contacts in the fields of education, science, healthcare, culture and the social sphere, the head of the MFA noted.
