PRESIDENT SERDAR BERDIMUHAMEDOV HELD MEETINGS ON THE SIDELINES OF THE CENTRAL ASIA-EUROPEAN UNION SUMMIT

On 03.04.2025 President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the first Central Asia-European Union Summit, met with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

As the head of state emphasized, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to expanding fruitful ties with the European Union and aims to develop cooperation not only in such areas as economics, energy, technology and transport, but also in the fields of culture and education.

Along with this, it was noted that at the present stage, bilateral cooperation includes significant issues related to economics and energy supply. In accordance with the green energy policy promoted by the European Union, Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to the introduction of new technologies and ensuring the stability of energy resources.

Noting that Turkmenistan highly values the level of partnership with the European Union, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed our country's readiness for the further effective development of these relations.

On the same day, Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso. Having highly assessed the development of the economic system of Turkmenistan, Odile Renaud-Basso confirmed her interest in further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. Among the relevant areas, interaction in the fields of energy, transport and the digital economy was identified.

The President of Turkmenistan also met with the President of the European Council, Antоnio Costa, with whom he discussed increasing cooperation in various areas.
